OSPAD implemented an awareness program of AIDS
funded by Global
fund/ UNICEF from January to May, 2007. The
main strategies of the program include
dissemination of information in the form of
messages and discussion programs aired over
the local FM radios, distribution of IEC
materials (Posters,, slogans) and workshops.
The program primarily targets groups that
perform practices that are the likely to be
sources of transmission of HIV/AIDS-
traditional birth attendants (TBAs),
Circumcision practitioners, dentists and
professional nurses
Activities

workshops with a total of 300 of participants
were held in held in
Mogadishu and Merca
2) Powerful
and field tested messages were broadcasted
over 2local FM radios in 3 times a day
3) 8
discussion programs where a panel of experts
facilitated and public participated via
telephone
lines were aired over 2local radios in
Mogadishu and Merca
4) More
then1000 of IEC materials (billboards,
brochures, posters, slogans) were distributed
and/or posted in crowded canters such as
markets, major business canters, schools,
hospitals and community canters.
